Computer Applications for Grades 3 – 6: Students will learn various computer software programs to help them achieve basic knowledge and skills related to computer technology appropriate to their grade level.

Schedule: Grades 3, 4, and 5 attend computer class for 30 minutes each day for one nine-week grading period.  Grade 6 attends computer class for 45 minutes daily (during one 9-week grading period).

Keyboarding:  Students in grades 3-6 will learn "touch typing" using a program by Ellsworth Publishing Company called Keyboarding for Kids. 

Instructional Objectives: In a nine-week course, grades 4-6 will also discuss and learn concepts related to:

bullet    Create a cover page and articles for their personal Portfolios
bullet    Compose paragraphs, essays, and letters using word processing software
bullet Multimedia Presentations
bullet    Create a slide presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint (grades 3-6)
bullet    Create a slide show in Kid Pix [grades 3-4)
bullet Desktop Publishing
bullet    Insert clip art and word art into documents
bullet    Create invitations and flyers to school events (grade 6)
bullet    Create greeting cards in Microsoft Publisher [grade 6]
