We believe that man is created for eternal life with God and that he should seek this goal. For this reason St. Anne Catholic School is totally committed to quality Catholic education.
Our school is dedicated to promoting spiritual and moral growth, intellectual excellence, physical fitness, cultural appreciation, and a willingness to serve others.
Parents and faculty members have an obligation to encourage our students to deal critically with reality and to make decisions with Christian freedom. Through example, we hope to awaken in students a capacity for creativity, responsibility, commitment, and prayer.
A Community of Tradition
St. Anne Catholic School was founded in 1937 as the parish school for St. Anne Catholic Church in the Diocese of Beaumont. Today, St. Anne School continues to fulfill its mission of providing a quality Catholic education rooted in moral religious values and fostered by commitment and service. St. Anne offers the traditional nine years of schooling associated with a Catholic elementary school – pre-kindergarten through eighth grades. Students attend weekly
Mass in the original church building and participate annually in the May Crowning of Mary.
A Community of Excellence
Our students' scores on the Standard Achievement Test, which is given yearly, are consistently high. The median score is above the grade level for each grade. The majority of our students go on to Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School where many fill the ranks of honor graduates each year. St. Anne is accredited by the
Texas Catholic Conference Education Department, which is recognized by the Texas Education Agency. Our students are regularly named winners of science fairs; math competitions; spelling bees; athletic contests; and art, religion, music, and literary contests.
A number of outstanding seventh graders are recognized in the Duke University Talent Identification Program.
In 2010, 46% of our seventh graders qualified for Duke TIP.
A Community of Family
St. Anne strives to be a community with a sense of family. Service projects that take students, parents, and faculty off campus and out into the larger community have become a way of life at St. Anne. Eighth graders help on a regular basis at a local soup kitchen, and
students sing and perform for church groups and the school community on a
regular basis. The National Catholic Education Association has honored St. Anne three times with
awards – in 1992 for success of the recycling program, in 1996 for the Picture Lady Program, and in 2007 as an Outstanding School Board.
A Community of Faith
The spirit of the Catholic faith touches every aspect of life at St. Anne. We emphasize the teaching of Christian values, morals, respect for others, personal responsibility for one’s actions, and an attitude of caring for others. Our school motto is
FAITH, COMMUNITY, and SERVICE.
A Community of Enrichment
St. Anne’s curriculum is aligned with the TEKS
as designed by the Texas Education Agency, and also includes courses that meet
special needs. CSCOPE® curriculum is used to vertically align curriculum for
greater student success. Advanced math is taught in grades seven and eight for
those students who qualify. A special reading program is also available. A complete program of health and physical education is offered on all levels. Boys' athletic teams compete in football, basketball, and track. Girls' teams participate in volleyball, basketball, softball, and track. The soccer team is co-ed and is composed of grades five through eight.
History
Founded in 1937 as the parish school for St. Anne Catholic Church, St. Anne School has been providing quality academic work and exceptional co-curricular educational opportunities to thousands of students for more than seventy years. The school opened as a four-room schoolhouse staffed by the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur, Belgium, from 1937 through the school term of 1972-73.
The first principal was Sister Margaret. Also assigned to St. Anne during the early years were Sister Alice Claire, Sister Agatha, and Sister Mary Irma.
Over the years, the school has grown into a multi-facility physical plant with full gymnasium and cafeteria, two academic buildings with fully-equipped science laboratory and large library. With a projector, SMART™ Board and 3-computer workstation in EVERY classroom, St. Anne is equipped with more
state-of-the-art technology tools than any other school in the area.
